In Greyton, homes typically utilise one of three sewage systems:
- Soak Pit: This system is now illegal and must be replaced during approved building works or when transferring ownership.
- Water Borne: Primarily found in areas like Heuwelkroon, Boschmanskloof, Caledon Street, and the Retirement Village, with plans to expand village-wide eventually.
- Conservancy Tank: The most common system, featuring a 6,000-litre tank, emptied using a “sucking Suzie” system. One monthly pump-out is covered by your rates.
Pump-Out Procedure:
- Arrange payment for one monthly pump-out, up to 6,000 litres.
- Email Grecash@TWK.org.za during the month (avoiding month-end) with your address, name, phone, and request a “regular” pump-out. Expect a three-day turnaround.
During Pump-Out:
- Greet staff on arrival.
- Check the tank’s rear eye glass; it should be empty.
- Supervise until completion.
- Note the percentage filled.
- Maintain property cleanliness.
- Thank the staff.
- Record details in your calendar.
- Flush toilets to prevent odours.
Emergency Pump-Out:
- Contact TWK’s after-hours number for urgent pump-outs, with overtime charges applicable.
Tank Size:
- Most homes have a 6,000-litre tank, but smaller tanks may require extra pump-outs, incurring charges. Address leaks promptly to avoid issues.
